Many people are intimidated by writing. Even so, there are times when writing is the best way to communicate, and oftentimes the only way to get your message across.

How to Properly Edit Your Writing

Ask yourself this, "do I feel self conscious about my writing? My grammar and mechanics may not be perfect, but what are other people saying about my writing? How does my unedited writing affect me as a person?" Submitting the first draft of an essay or other types of written work is one thing, but turning in a final, polished, clean, error free piece of work is another. In the world of academia and the professional world, many writers fail to take the necessary steps that are required to submit a final polished piece of writing. Moreover, many writers fail to understand the necessity of submitting perfected writing in the professional and academic world, especially when texting and e-mailing becomes one of our dominant means of communication. Texting and e-mailing allows people to use short cuts with words and the mechanics of sentence structure, and this notion makes writers forget the true art of communication through standard English writing.

How to Improve Creative Writing Skills

If you want to write a short story, an essay or even a letter, here are some ways to improve your creative writing.

01.First, get a partner to work with. Look to your library for help. Sometimes there are writers' groups that get together and critique each other's writings. This is the best place to get help initially.

02.Second, write every day. Pick up a journal at the dollar store and dedicate time every day to writing for at least 10 minutes.

At times it helps me to think that writing is a lot like carpentry. That way, I can work from a plan and use the tools I've stored on my workbench. You can borrow a writing tool whenever you'd like. And here's a secret: you don't have to return it. You can pass it on to another writer without losing it.

Here is my list of 20 writing tools. I've borrowed these from reporters and editors, from authors of books on writing [speech writing], andfrom teachers and coaches. I've learned how to use many of them by reading the work of storytellers I admire. In this space, I can offer only the briefest description of how to use the writing tool, but I hope it is enough to help you build your own collection.
